Motherhood in Motion: Navigating Your Transition with Support, Compassion & Clarity

Becoming a mother is not just about welcoming a baby—it’s about experiencing a profound psychological, emotional, and identity shift. Whether you’re preparing for motherhood, navigating the early postpartum period, or reflecting on how motherhood is changing you—this space is for you.

What I Offer

I specialize in supporting women and birthing people through the psychological transition of motherhood, known as matrescence. Through the 6-session program Matrescence in Motion, we explore the layers of change, connection, adjustment, and growth that arise at this pivotal time.

In addition to this structured program, I offer individual therapy tailored to the unique emotional and relational challenges of motherhood, including:

- Adjusting to new identity and roles

- Navigating shifts in relationships (partner, family, friends)

- Processing grief, loss, or disappointment (e.g., pregnancy loss, transition from career to motherhood)

- Managing overwhelm, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, perfectionism

- Supporting neurodivergent mothers, mamas with trauma histories, and mothers in high-pressure roles, including those seeking NDIS support coordination.

Why This Matters

Many mothers assume that once the baby arrives, everything will “fall into place.” But often what follows is less visible:

- A sense of self that has changed irrevocably

- Grief for the self you were and the life you had

- A mismatch between what motherhood is and what you expected

- Emotional and relational terrain that often goes unspoken

This transition—matrescence—is every bit as significant as adolescence. You don’t just gain a child; you reshape your identity, values, relationships, and sense of future. Unaddressed, these dynamics can leave you feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck.

My approach ensures you’re not just managing symptoms but making meaning of the change and building a foundation for a more connected, grounded motherhood while also addressing psychosocial recovery coaching where needed.

How I Work

My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. I bring an integrative orientation that draws on relational, developmental, and trauma-informed frameworks. I use tools from ACT, DBT, Schema Therapy, family systems, and EMDR, tailored to your needs.

In our sessions we might:

- Explore your story: your identity pre-motherhood, your hopes, your losses

- Map the shifting relational and internal terrain (partner, family, self)

- Identify emotional patterns, core needs, and unhelpful beliefs

- Develop practical strategies for emotion regulation, boundaries, self-care, and integration

- Create space for reflection, connection, and adaptation rather than just “fixing”

Whether you’re engaging in the 6-session Matrescence program or working through more open-ended therapy, the aim is to help you emerge as a mother who is connected to yourself, clear about your values, and confident in your relational self.

“I would rather be the child of a mother who has all the inner conflicts of the human being than be mothered by someone for whom all is easy and smooth, who knows all the answers, and is a stranger to doubt.”
